The landscape
During the summer and fall of 2022, I worked in the part of Glenorchy Conservation Area that extends upstream and downstream of the pedestrian bridge that crosses Sixteen Mile Creek, north of Highway 407. Late summer was very dry, which resulted in low water levels in the creek. This is a beautiful landscape, with steep, forested valley sides. Sixteen-Mile Creek has cut its way deeply into the Queenston Shale bedrock, exposing the distinctive red and blue-green layers of stone.
