Human uses
Conservation Halton is currently deciding how to manage Glenorchy Conservation Area. In the meantime, people who have discovered the valley are using it for a variety of approved, and unapproved, purposes. A paved path and a sturdy bridge connect the lands on the north and south sides of Sixteen-Mile Creek. Most people who have visited the area only know it from the perspective of the path and the bridge. Others know it from the informal but well-established hiking trails along the heights on the south side. The area near the bridge is popular with people who enjoy fishing. Unfortunately, a major use of the area is illegal all-terrain vehicle riding. Trails created by all-terrain vehicle riders have been cut into the shoreline lands on either side of the creek, connecting water crossings that criss-cross the valley.
